Best workout may be the one you DON’T do…

Rest days are just as important - if not more so - as working out, even if it feels counterintuitive. While the endorphin rush from exercise can feel amazing in the moment, constantly chasing that high without proper recovery can actually backfire in the long term. Overtraining can lead to burnout, fatigue, and even injury, which not only affects your physical health but can also leave you feeling mentally drained.

Rest days are when your muscles repair and you get stronger, allowing your body to come back more resilient for your next workout. Finding this balance means exercise can remain a sustainable part of your routine.

In the long run, rest days help maintain healthy hormone levels, particularly by reducing excess cortisol—the stress hormone that can spike with too much activity. Taking a day or two off also helps prevent mental burnout, keeping you motivated and excited to get moving again.

Rest days don’t mean doing nothing! Gentle stretching, walking, or even gentle swimming can keep you active without further depleting you. By prioritizing recovery, you’ll not only perform better but also ensure that exercise continues to benefit both your mind and body over time.
